Big Block Bellhousing

Is there any difference in 4 speed bellhousings from year to year or body to body? 

Also, does a '70 440 take an 10.5 or 11" flywheel?

Yes there are 2 belhousings
130 tooth - used in E bodies - uses a 10.95" clutch
143 tooth - used in the 60s but will fit the E body -- uses the 11" clutch
Both the 10.95 & 11" use the same clutch disc but completely different pressure plates
You Never use the 10.5" clutch , the 10.95 fits & is what is needed on any big block & will last longer , I use the 10.95 on every application except /6

You forgot to mention the difference in bearing retainer size. The large hole in the bell housing also comes in two sizes

They repro the big block bellhousing so finding one is easy. 10.5 flywheel, 10.95 clutch setup like CP says.

Gee sorry , so why don't you add the info ?? 
There are 3 brg retainer diameters to consider
4.35 using the 307 front brg in the trans
4.80 using the 308 brg in the front of the trans
5.125 using the same 308 front brg but only used on OD transmissions , no need to look for an belhousing with 5.125 hole as the front retainer is easily milled down to 4.80 if you want the OD version , I personally love them with a .71 od gear ratio for the highway .
the brg size in the front of the 307 & 308 brg trans prevents swapping the front brg retainer as the bolt pattern is larger on the 4.80 & 5.125 which use the same bolt pattern & can be swapped .
Hmm what else have I forgotten , I guess I could write a book , like alan said I have not taught you all I know yet & I doubt alan has taught me anything I know either

I think the Brewers link that I posted covers all the different big block bell housings and their differences and lays it out in a nice clear fashion with associated part numbers, etc... in case someone is searching for a certain one.
