How much tolerance are accepted between shaft and rockerarms? I have slight ticking and i checked some of my rocker arms feels loose on the shaft i think that what create the noise .

More questions than answers , where is the play , side to side or pushing down on the pushrod , I assume it is a hydraulic cam not solid using stock rockers or no ? if the pushrods will depress the lifters are collapsed & not holding pressure.  How long has the engine sat ' cold or still hot when the rockers feel loose ?
 The rockers should be loose on the shaft but under load between the pushrod & valve tip .

Rockerarm play all directions.
Hydraulic Lifters are 500 miles old been told from previous owner .

Lifters could be a bad set , or have deeper cup height causing the pushrods to be too short
