Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how the heater control valve bracket attaches to the fender on the passenger side of my car. The one on there is for a truck and it's on backwards, does anyone have any photos?. She is a 70 Challenger 440 with A/C.

Thanks
Mike

Not positive, but believe there are 3 dimples on the inner fender that matches the correct bracket you are talking about. I will see if I have any pictures

Hi,

The one on the car now is free floating, held in place by the hoses.  Who would do such a thing...  :))

Thanks!

Hi,

Yep, that's it!. I have everything except the clips, still trying to find those. Just need to see how it attaches to the fender.

Thank you!

First photo, correct valve with correct bracket.... Hard to see everything  but in the next post maybe it'll get better...
Oh, BTW the bolt on the other side of the A/C hose is in the heater valve bracket...

This is what the bracket should look like.

My car.. Correct bracket, I quit buying the correct valve when the fourth one failed...  One photo is the two bottom bolts which are below the valve, the other is the same as shown above..

And a new inner fender with the two bottom holes clearly visible, on a non A/C car these are dimples....

One more shot of the bottom two bolts from a different perspective.

Here is the correct bracket for the 70/71 Ebody water valve as from the factory.  Another of the installed valve.

Hi,

Just one more quick question. Are the bolts 7/16 self taping?.

Thanks
Mike

I am away from both cars that have factory air, but believe they are a tapered sheet metal bolt, not self tapping, may require a certain size hole to be drilled. Found the bracket and correct screws according to their ad. hope this helps.  :handshake:

Those bolts look correct to mount the valve to the bracket but not the bracket to the fender....  The bolts to fender don't have a built in washer... I will try to get a picture tomorrow...
