I was wondering through ebay and found Chryco Sulfurized Ester oil. What is it and what's it for?

Air Conditioning oil.... R12 originally used mineral oil... R134 when released used PAG oil... Then since R12 was being taken out of use everyone was converting R12 systems to R134.... Mineral oil &. PAG oil are not compatible, if mixed the create a sticky sludge..... Mineral oil doesn't play well with R134 either...

When you do the conversion you would flush the R12 system & replace a few key components... But no matter how much you flush a small amount of mineral oil always stayed in the evaporator... So even when doing everything right in early conversions we had about a 30% failure rate....  The solution? Esther Oil... It can be mixed with mineral or PAG oil (but not both in the same system)

Then theres the problem of those cars that grenades the compressor after conversion when the little bit of mineral oil mixed with PAG oil...   The only sure fix was to replace the evaporator, the condenser, the compressor, the accumulator & flush the lines...
