I did some quick homework and and did not find exactly what I was looking for - was hoping to get some more info here.  I have an 8 3/4 posi in my '70 cuda now and was wondering other than the 28811489 cast in the carrier if there is an assembly or other date somewhere else on the housing?  Trying to identify what I have - thank you.  I cant quite make out the numbers in the photo - looks like 8X25???

We have Sure-grips. the 489 is the correct vintage for your car. It is a cone style in original form.

Thank you sir!!  Much appreciated.  I wasn't sure if there were date or assembly codes like on the Danas

8-3/4s don't get stamped like a Dana.  The assembly data for an 8-3/4 is all in ink stamps.  The same goes for the 8-3/4 housing.  You need to carefully clean the grime and rust off of them and hope the ink stamps are still visible.  EvapoRust works great at uncovering original inspection marks.  It removes the rust but leaves the ink behind.
