Hi, I do have a Slant 6 Barracuda with a A-230 3 speed manual. Not fun.

I have the opportunity to get a completely rotten /6 Dart with a A-833. (Mopar 4-speeds are rare and expensive on this side of the sea ! :france:)

So first, would a A-Body A833 could be used in the E-Body without hacking the body? (IOW, does the A-Body transmission mounts matches the E-body crossmember ?)
I'd fabricate a shifter position change bracket to fit a Hurst pistol grip at the good location in the tunnel and a propper length driveshaft.

Or what would it take (other than the 16" rear shifter fitting housing ?) to fit a long tail on my A-body T-mission ? (Parts numbers at Brewer's for exemple...) I'm pretty much lost with the diversity of versions of the 833

Thanks a lot for your answers !

Simple answer is No go
The shifter is positioned where the torsion bar cross member is located , so yes you have to cut
I am not saying it cannot be done as I have done it but I built a plate to sandwich with the trans mount & mount the shifter further back & use the factory shift hole & shift rods

Thanks,
That's the idea i had in mind. Did you had to cut even with the shifter relocation ?
In this setup, does the A Body transmission silent block mount at the same location as an E-Body one ?

As I recall the trans mount is in the same place , if you measure the distance on your 3 spd & compare with the 4 spd I am virtually certain it is the same distance , the early B body has the shifter in front of the mount , the A body is just behind & the E body used the far rear mount so you need to build a mount to put the shifter further back & use the existing hole in the body & the long shifter rods
