Aftermarket coolant overflow "puke" tank, does it need vented?

I'm using a universal radiator catch can with Champion aluminum radiator.

This can is only for coolant overflow and is not designed to have the coolant sucked back into the radiator.

Very little coolant goes in the can and I usually empty the little bit of coolant out of the can once a month and put it back in the radiator.

My issue is after I run/drive the car and park it overnight the top radiator hose is collapsed.

I can tell there is a vacuum as when I either open to bottom petcock on the can or loosen the radiator cap I can hear/feel the suction release and the upper hose returns to it regular shape.

Per the catch can specs it is not vented.

I have tried 2 different new Stant radiator caps, both 16lbs. one regular and one with the pressure release lever.

I have replaced the rubber hose going from the radiator neck nipple to the catch can with a sturdier one that does not collapse under vacuum.

I'm thinking of drilling a small hole on the side of the can close to the top to vent it.

Would this work or is there a different type of vented or non vented radiator cap I need?

Yes: There is nothing to be gained by that tank holding vacuum or pressure.
