I attempted to steam clean mine but it doesn't work.

@Daveh

Used eagle one.  FINALLY something cheap and it worked great.  I just sprayed some on a rag and wiped up the areas that were dirty.

I got a wet washcloth and wiped up any residue that might have been left behind as I didn't know if the eagle one spray should be left on.

THANKS

Daveh

Glad it worked for you.  It's not always the expensive stuff that does the trick.  That's why this is such a great site.  You get the common sense approach.

I got some eagle one after reading this thread. It didn't work as well as I wanted but maybe it because of what needed to be cleaned off. I grabbed some carb spray and the fuel residue came right off.

I would describe my issue as minor.  Glad you got your grime off HP.

I would imagine wheel cleaner would be the last step in cleaning an intake...not the first. I have a Weiand X-cellerator that was pretty dirty. It cleaned up a lot better then I expected with just a soak in the parts washer. Using wheel cleaner on it at this point would just brighten up the aluminum.
