Hi,

!971 Cuda 340

Clutch pedal when going back to its resting out position and almost at the end makes a marked metal noise like the spring jumping to different position.

Is this a known problem with this mechanism and how did you resolve it.

Thanks

Mr Lee

Is there any excess play in the pedal?  Maybe try adjusting it to see if that helps?  Not sure.

Sounds like the over center spring is moving. Probably it has worn spot.

Thanks,

I do think it has quite a play, is there an adjustment right down at the pedal?

I will go see the car in a couple days.

Manuel

Yes, I think it is moving right when the pedal is reaching full out position.

So, can it be adjusted to stay a little in and how?

Car is not here...

My clutch creaked and popped during travel.

In watching it I could see the over center spring moving up and down during clutch travel.

Lubing it did nothing.

I removed the OC spring and pin it rides on and discovered major wear on the back of the pin causing the spring to move all around during clutch pedal travel.

Was not able to see the wear until I removed the pin as it was on the backside of the pin under the spring end.

Installed a new pin and all is quiet.

Excellent info and pics.

Good chances to be the same case.

Thanks
