Convert radiator support from 22'' to 26''?

One more vote to match the many others to use your 26" first. I did this many years ago with mine.
IIRC (because all is changed again) I used an existing hole in the core support to bolt an adapter strap that had a bolt thread on other end that aligned with radiator. Lower right (passenger side) mounting on radiator was not used.
Radiator was mounted with only 3 bolts. Was this way for over 20 years with no issue.
Yes, some of radiator will be shrouded but look at it from a flow perspective. The 22" core opening will ALWAYS allow more air flow thru it than the radiator ever will.
Yes, be sure to also use shrouding.

no reason to damage the Vin stamp on the rad support if the panel is installed correctly , it attaches to the upper support but you do not need to cut into it
