Doesn't look right to me but does it looks right ?

It's not straight ? Should it be ?

Thanks

Shane Kelley

It's assembled correct. Now you need to tighten the nut up against the washer to adjust your pedal travel and clutch pressure.

Purepony

I adjust it all the way to the end and there's no clutch pedal return it just stays down or up

Any idea where I should be around ? Towards the head part or towards the end on the no end part ?

NO! it is way wrong
1st item to check is the bellcrank where the retaining clip goes into the slot in the plastic bearings.
It looks like the slot is not engaged correctly, very common mistake

You are using the rubber washer on the rod instead of the metal swivel. get the swivel - it's on ebay, cheap, works great

Purepony

I checked both plastic bushings and they appear to be fine one of them is held in I guess with the movement because there's no clip in the one with the clip I made sure the clip went into the groove

I thought maybe the z bar Was installed wrong but no the clip goes facing  the driver side

The nut should be about half way on the threaded rod, if you pull back on the fork, you will see where it stops, that's roughly where the nut has to hold it in place. :alan2cents:

The clutch fork doesn't look long enough. Are these original parts to car? The adjusting rod should be straight yours is on an angle something is not lined up properly. Measure the length of clutch fork and check it against the one listed for your car on brewers site. On second look at pictures I think Edgar might be right the z bar doesn't appear to be pushed in far enough on ball stud it's barely engaged on ball part in first two pictures

Purepony

Hmm thanks for the observation.

On the z bar there's one side with a clip and the other without, the clipped one is on the groove the second is ends up there when I tighten the nut on the bracket.... hmm 🤔 how can I check all this again ? Should I remove and recheck ? Is there anything I'm missing

Purepony

Not original parts to the car but from an e body

Purepony

Thanks Alan I'm going to check the z bar again and do what you said

Is the fork connected to the throw out bearing?

mccannix

Small block motor used the longer clutch fork
Are you sure you dont have a big block clutch fork in there.
It is shorter than a small block fork....yours doesn't look long enough

Shane Kelley

"I think" once the linkage is adjusted it will line up better. In the picture it's so far out of adjustment that may be making it all whacked out looking.

anlauto

This would be impossible to adjust outside of the car :alan2cents:
