I want to make sure I have the correct driveshaft for my 1970 AAR Cuda, 340, 4 speed, 8 3/4 Diff.
I have the following questions:
1.  What is the correct length of the driveshaft?  From the Parts Catalog it looks like it could be either 43.60" (part no. 2883636), or 43.85" (part no. 2883769).
2.  Should the driveshaft have a 7290 u-joint (2 5/8" inside of yoke) at the axle end, and a 7260 u-joint (2 1/8" inside of yoke) at the transmission end?
Thanks for the help.

The driveshaft I have here out of an original 43K one owner AAR is 43.6 with two different size U Joints....That's odd that it lists two different lengths  with only 1/4" difference :looney:

#2
the # 2883636 is the driveshaft with two large u-joints 7290 (on most automatic with 8-3/4" 'cudas)

the # 2883769 is the driveshaft with the two different u-joints 7260/7290 (on AARs & most 4-speed with 8-3/4" 'cudas)
IIRC the small u-joint is towards the transmission

fixed, thanks!

Thanks for the replies.
The larger 7290 u-joint is definitely at the rear axle end, and the smaller 7260 is at the transmission end.
Is the part number stamped on the driveshaft?  If so, where was it typically located?
Thanks.

7290 at the rear is what I have found.

Part numbers are stamped on the tube, but all the ones I've ever restored were too rusty to find it. :alan2cents:
