Happy New Year to all!

I have an Edelbrock 1406 (actually a #9906) 600CFM that I am going to try on my 340 with an LD340 intake with a Lunati cam #10200702 which has a profile of 262/268, .479" / .474"; measured compression is about 9.5:1.  Has anyone used this carb on a 340, and if so did it work fine out of the box or did it need some tweaking with jets and such?  Or does this even sound like a good combo for this street car?  Also it is an automatic with a 3:23 Sure Grip.

Thanks!

Its probably close enough to run decent, however, they can almost always run better. A lot of good info is in the attached link. See where your carb's stock specs fall in regards to need and see what adjustments you might need to make. Many E-Brock  carb parts can be purchased at major chain retailers like O-Reilly Auto and others.

Carbs Always need tweaking out fi the box , the 1406 is just a fits all carb never correct for anything , so yes you have to tweak.
Start with float levels , they will be set wrong .
Personally it is one of my most disliked carbs adjustability sucks there is no way to adjust the air bleeds for lower vacuum & minimal adjustment on everything else  & you are at least 100 cfm small for a 340 .

@Chryco Psycho I have heard that it might be small, and that it is an economy version that may need re-jetting and different metering rods.  Perhaps a 750 would be better?

I agree a 750 is a better choice .

More CFM would be a benefit. In this article they built a pretty much stock 340 using a 1406 with less cam than you have but 10:1 compression and got some decent HP. You can see what the 6-Pack added
