I'm going to be getting the tremec t56 six speed.  I'm having a Dana 60 built for me and the guy is asking me what gear ratio I want.  I'm kinda leaning towards something in the mid to high 3's.  Like 3.54 or 3.73. My motor should have plenty of power, so I don't think 4.11's are necessary.

My intentions for the car is driving it wherever.  Road trips etc.  Not 1/4 racing or road courses etc.  I don't know what my tire size is just yet, but I'm thinking 17 inch rims and as wide of a tire as I can make fit in the stock wheel wells.   Any input on a driver car with the 6 speed?

After posting this, I went on Tremec's website.  Lots of info with their calculator.  6th gear with the Magnum XL 2.97 transmission with a 28" tall tire gives me 70.9 mph at 2000 rpm with a 3.73 gear ratio.  That seems reasonable.

In my Javelin ( which I'm still building, hasn't seen the road yet ) I'm running a T-56 and got a great deal on a S60 that has 3:73 in it but I was figuring I'd be better off with 4:30 . There are different ratio's in T-56 available so that to is a factor. Mine was out of a Camaro and has 2.66:1   1.78:1   1.30:1   1.00:1   0.74:1   0.50:1    ratio's

It's common for aftermarket versions to have
2.97:1   2.07:1   1.43:1   1.00:1   0.80:1   0.62:1

Don't just look at 6th gear. Look at 1st gear as well. A lot of the OD transmissions have a very low 1st gear. You don't want to have to shift at 10mph. :)
