Is the 727 case not precise?

Installed, then removed a bolt-in A&A sprag when it didn't sit evenly.  But the case doesn't measure even around the sprag area.  The sprag is 20mm thick, the case depth varies from around 17.5mm to 18.3mm.

Is that normal or weird?

Also, do you leave alone or grind smooth the staked divots in the case around the sprag?  Pressing the new sprag in left aluminum grit underneath.

Lessons from first photo - the spring assembly might wedge under the outer race as in the photo, the back should be inside the race.  Also the grove is there to catch aluminum grit during install, and vaseline or assembly lube helps capture the grit including from the stakings.
