The overflow tank was only installed on 74's.  I used to have pics of the 74 setup but it doesn't look like I have them anymore.

I agree. My 73 Challenger never had a tank. Just a hose originating at the filler neck, running down the driver side of the radiator, and dumping directly onto the ground.

I took this picture at Carlisle because I thought the 73 I'm working on needed it. I know my 73 back in the day didn't have it. Pretty sure I took this pic off a 73 but if you're sure 73 never had it in good with that. Looks pretty cluttered anyway.

I dont have info to add for years that may or may not have them.
It could be possible that some states required them over others for same years. California was already on the smog requirement path.

Here are some pics from my 74 Challenger.

My 73 Cuda 340 does not have an overflow tank.... just hose from radiator filler neck down passenger side of radiator, through a hole in the lower support. Hose sticks down below the support about 1 inch...

If any 73's got it, I think they would be very late in 73 production.  If anyone has a 73 that has it, please list your SPD.

73 cars do not have coolant overflow tank from the factory. I added an after market tank to capture the overflow.

Another data point here.
I have owned my 73 Cuda since 1984.
I have no overflow tank.
Overflow hose follows radiator top and side, dumps directly on the ground.
