Okay, thinking out loud here.     I installed a 440 source 6 quart Hemi oil pan on my 440.  According to their website it does not sit any lower than a stock pan, it's just wider.  Therefore, if I'm thinking correctly, even though it's a 6 quart pan, I can use my dip stick for the original 5 quart pan and it will still be accurate?  :notsure:So what say you experts?    :fingerscrossed:

I've not used anything buy stock pans, but what you are saying sounds like it should work.  Since you know how much oil the system needs, the first time you fill it up with oil oil double check by looking at the dip stick after you put the correct about of oil in.

I believe it should work as well. It only makes sense that not matter what pan was used that Chrysler would have engineered the oil level to be a certain distance below the crankshaft.

:iagree:the top level is what matters o basically how close to the crank the upper oil level is so it makes no difference how deep the pan is below that level , my 440 duster had a 12 qt pan with a stock dipstick
