I'm going to put a micro electric fuel pump on my Challenger for easier starting. I've outlined two fuel line routing options in the picture. In the top picture should I use a piece of steel line in section "A" so that I'm using less rubber hose? From pump to line would be a couple feet long.
My other option would be to cut the fuel line so that I just have a short section between it and the pump. But doing that is kind of permanent.

As it is only for startup prime, I personally would go the shorter line route. As for "permanent", if idea doesn't pan out as expected, pump could still be removed and replaced with another short rubber piece where pump used to be.

if its only used for starting, why not add the electric pump up front?    With a hose, tee off the main fuel line before it goes into the fuel pump and run a line parallel, essentially bypassing the mechanical pump.  Run it for a second to fill the fuel bowl.

Just FYI, amount of bends in the fuel line affects flow..I'd go with the least amount of bends.

Think you might need to add a check valve as well. But I prefer your idea to pulling fuel through the little electric all the time.

Mounting instructions call for it to be mounted near bottom of tank height wise and with a foot of the tank.

Just add a fuel pressure regulator to dial it in
