Over Center Spring

Just installed a McLeod Street/Strip clutch and the instructions say to remove the over center spring on the pedal. What if I don't?? I adjusted the clutch and everything feels seems fine.....what are the issues if I leave the spring on?

Ok so you went with a diaphragm style pressure plate
You must then remove the OC spring .
you have the pressure plate pushing back against the pedal & the OC spring helping to relase the clutch pushing the other way so now you may find the clutch pedal will stay on the floor on shifts , I have seen this happen even with the OC spring removed which is a big part of my dislike for diaphragm style

Didn't feel like it wanted to stay on the floor at all...but I will pull the spring tomorrow. I have free play at the top of the pedal, and normal feeling when depressing the pedal.

This is the ridiculously big spring on the left side of the pedal hooking on to the bracket at the back by the firewall--right?

Any harm in putting a few miles on it before removing the spring to be sure everything else is OK? Other than the possibility of the pedal not returning up?

That is the benefit of the spring it will pull the pedal off the clutch at the top of the travel
you can drive it as it is , it will feel different driving it . It will hurt nothing unless you are shifting at red line without lifting on the throttle & the clutch doesn't return / engage , then you will desperatly need a rev limiter !!
Yes you have the correct massive spring under the dash BTW

And the trick to removing it safely is to insert washers or pennies between the coils with the pedal held at the point where the spring is stretched the most... The remove the top rubber bumper & raise the pedal to the top of its travel.... The anchor pin should be free to slide out...

it's out and the clutch is adjusted......really made a difference in pedal pressure.
