Here I am again :)

so, I ordered a rear end from a guy in Canada (Sylvain Gaucher - many people might know him), paid for shipping more than 2x what I paid for the parts but it is what it is. I need your help with the internals which are missing.

For now, I have:
1. The whole Axle (not sure if that's the correct term but I'm referring to the whole rear end)
2. 3rd member case which is a 741 (whatever that means).
3. The actual Axles that go inside the...axle?  :drunk:

I guess I'm after the gears (Ring, pinion, etc) and after something called a power lock posi?

Sorry, I hope I'm clear enough considering I have -199 experience on this. Could someone please guide me to what exactly do I need to order to complete this and have it installed on the car? I guess I need to order the ends of the driveshaft too as we will be building one so if you guys can guide me to that also, would be amazing!

Adding some photos of my purchase  :crazytalk:

Like I mentioned in your other post. You will be further ahead buying the new Dana from Cass. Factor in all the shipping costs for all the required parts to build that, and paying someone to assemble it....

I've bought parts off Silvan before, he seems like a good/reputable person but reconsider if you can?

What you have found so far is a step in the right direction I suppose, an 8 3/4 with 741 case is one possible rear that would have been found in the car originally. But from what I understand the choice of gear sets available for the 741 case is now limited to 3.55 or 3.73. So if you want something more highway friendly like a 3.23 you would probably be better off starting with the 742 or 489 case which has better parts availability.

I would suggest calling Dr Diff (Cass) and go from there. He can very likely help you out with your driveshaft needs as well.

Basically you need a rebuild kit which will give you the carrier bearings and seals. Also a Sure Grip carrier, a set of ring & pinion (decide what ratio, 3:55 is nice) and a front yoke. Axles bearings and seals...He probably can help you with the brakes as well  :bigthumb:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

You can also buy the complete dial in center section from Dr Diff. He offers different types of limited slip to choose from. Alternately you can buy the complete Strange 60 rear from him as suggested by Brad.

Maybe save on shipping and have the center section sent to Dr. Diff then he can assemble it good as new and ship it to you direct.

I went with Dr. Diff (Cass) for everything third member and have zero regrets.
