Its getting close to the time that I'll need to come up with a NOS or reproduction fuel pump for my original 440 (U code) as my engine is getting closer to being done (almost two years in the engine shop, but hey). I've found one online, but have concerns. It looks like the one that was on my engine isn't an original. Besides, it's been idle for decades. Does anyone know if these are available or if safe and reliable repops are out there?

For $14 you can't afford not to buy that fuel pump.  When is the last time you bought a part for your Challenger that only cost $14???  :haha: At the very least, keep one in a box in the trunk as a spare for the road.

Here's a NOS unit for $125 - one minor difference I've noticed is the location of the fittings

Pictured is a reference photo of the ECS Automotive 440 Challenger - all depends on how accurate you want/need your build to be I guess.  :dunno:

Here's one for $43 - same part# - I see now that number is superseded from the original 3420835 but those have to be unobtanium by now.

I have a rockauto Carter pump for my 383 - in that number IIRC the fittings match the original one exactly. But definitely agree for the price they're hard to beat regardless.

There's just some things that don't make much sense using when it comes to 50 year old NOS parts. I think a fuel pump falls into that category. The  rubber can degrade and develop a pin hole that can  pump fuel into the crankcase. That happened to me years ago and destroyed my motor. It pumped just enough to keep the car running but filled the crankcase. That one Brads NOS. Is showing is not an original fuel pump. He preys on people's ignorance. Just my two cents.
