Any recommendations for ring and pinion manufacturers?
Anyone to avoid?

I have a 489 case and looking to go with a 3.73 29 spline setup.

I've personally had success with Yukon gears on Dakota stuff.  (9.25 axles)

Who does Dr Diff use for his 8.75 stuff?

Motive Gears would be my first choice.

I put Yukon gears on my new eaton tru-track a few years ago. No complaints. I think they are all pretty good. It's the person setting them up that can fubar it....it won't be the gear manufacturers fault.  :alan2cents:
I really enjoyed learning how to set up gears. My buddy had set up dozens and he pretty much just watched..telling me what needed to be done, how to do it, and whether I was doing it correctly...while he drank my beer.
