If the heads are faced to decrease chamber size, the intake face can be cut at the same time to maintain the alignment on the intake.  If memory serves for every 10 thou off the chamber side, take 9.5 thou off the intake face.  This way the intake doesn't need to be cut.  Supposedly not needed to cut intake side until you get past 0.040 on the chamber side if you need to cut costs.
