Spark plug question

If an engine is running a bit rich I know the carb needs to be tuned. But aside from that, if it is a bit rich would a slightly hotter spark plug help give a cleaner, more complete burn? Just curious, trying to understand how all things are connected.

I had the same issue with my 440.I ran a hotter plug and that has helped.I will check the plugs after 500 miles to see how they are burning.
