I replaced the thermostat in the engine with a Stant 180*.
Worked fine for 2 runs then stopped opening.
Is there a better one?

I recommend a 190-195* stat, and I buy them from Mopar.  Never had good luck with aftermarket stats. :alan2cents:

Stant is one of the better products but everyone has a bad day !

Is it rare for these to fail?. I'm wondering if I drill a 1/16" hole in it if it will work better. Read it from other posts.
Maybe just had an air bubble? Never had this issue before.

Most likely bad. You can test it on your kitchen stove in boiling water. I would just buy another one.

Never went to grade none auto class. Wish I did now.

I will get another one, strange for it to work sometimes and not other times.

What do you mean stopped working? Very easy to test...my bet would be a different issue
