What else besides a Saginaw? Mopar's always used either Saginaw or Chrysler.

I've never seen that style pump used on a big or small block in 70-71 but that's not to say it won't work. :bigthumb:

So what style pump? Please inform. According to Classic Industries, all style pumps are correct for 70-71.

And it looks like my car never had power steering.

The pump itself is correct, the reservoir is either 73 & up or GM....  The correct reservoir is shown below

That's the "banjo-style" reservoir is an "earlier" style. The "A" frame style is also listed as a Challenger part.

Sounds like we need some confirmation of did Mopars use the "A" frame style, and if so, when was the cross-over point.

Sadly, the shop manual lists no such thing. We'll have to either a) confirm with a power steering pump & mopar expert (not a lot around here with that combo), b) find several old images of original engines showing original pumps, or c) check eBay listings.

Seems like eBay seems to back up what you're saying, that the banjo style was used in Challengers. That must have meant that my pump was replaced at some point.

Like I said in my last post, 73 & up......

So, it's a correct pump and reservoir, but the reservoir isn't correct for the year.

Doesn't bother me....I spent quite some time/money restoring the reservoir with two-part paint. It doesn't bug me enough to spend $100 on a banjo reservoir and to repaint it...I don't trust any paint that comes on remans when it comes to engine fluids. Sounds like a future item to consider.

I'm already having a hell of a time trying to find a new pulley. I may go with a summit pulley for a chebby since the options are nil for finding a OE-correct pulley. There is an OE-correct pulley, but it's for a RB or B motor...and requires a spacer kit to go along with it.

Done deal.

Now to figure out why my partial kickdown isn't working.

No partial KD on a 70 unless the valve body has been changed. Full throttle KD only.

Not entirely correct, \6 got part throttle kick down in 70....  But mostly correct, I think he had it added....

Adjustment completed, she kicks down just fine now.

Things were a little out of wack.

Yes, I had partial added to improve drivability!
