Is there a difference between a 3 speed trans crossmember and a 4 speed?

My car is an original 3 speed (73) and I swapped to a 4 speed. I'm using the 3 speed crossmember but have been chasing an issue where a shifter rod is contacting the body where it passes through that opening. Awhile back Chrycho (Neil) said it could be because the crossmember is hanging low. The 3 speed piece I have in there is in there right but wondering if I need a different one?

I do not believe there is any difference , I would just tweak the shift rods os they clear properly assuming the mount is good

What should I be looking for to make sure the mount is good?

How would I tweak the rods if they are contacting at the bottom of the tunnel?

Is the rubber beat around the cross pin ? if it is the mount is bad ,
if the rods are hitting the floor you may have the wrong levers on the side of the trans , the correct levers that I usually use have 2 holes for the shift rods allowing for a much shorter shift throw in the hole closest to the pivot .  You may have to put the rods in a vice a bend them slightly so they are away from the floor .
