Had a valve job done well over a year ago... new hardened seats; new guides, and new heavier springs.   I am finally about to install them and noticed the (stock) retainers do not completely cover the springs; is this a major issue or not?  :clueless:  The spring OD is just under 1.5" while the retainer OD is 1.334".  The springs are COMP Cam's # 901-1.   Not sure why but on COMP Cam's website in the specs they say "No" to them having dampers but clearly they do   And Summit Racing say's they are "Beehive" design which unless I am missing something they are clearly not.

Anyway... will these retainers be ok as is or am I delayed for new and wider ones?

Thanks and Happy Father's Day to all you Dads out there!

Also... since the heads were redone last year I  have made, due to recommendations here @Chryco Psycho  (thank you), a recent cam change to a Lunati #10200702 that has exhaust lift of .494" and the new springs show a max lift of .49"... is this going to be a issue or is there a fudge factor?
Trying to stick with a single + damper spring.

Will this work as is , yes , for how long , not so sure .
The springs are at the max , with only .004 extra lift above the rating they will work but could fatigue fairly quickly you do not want the spring to go solid & coil bind you should have about .030 between the coils at max lift at least  . I try to run below the max to prevent problems also a beehive type spring is a far better spring so if you do decide to replace them I would choose beehive with matching retainers & springs .
Locks & retainers are relatively cheap for sure I would change those & I would use 10* not 7* as they cost is virtually the same .

Safer not to run the smaller diameter retainers. When you bought your new Lunati cam, you should have bought the bigger kit that includes the lifters and springs. My kit even included the timing chain and gears. Better to run a matched set of cam, lifters, springs. :alan2cents:
