I was wiping down my Dana 60 rear end when I noticed this bracket/mount on the top of passenger side axle tube.  It appears that something is supposed to be bolted to it, as there is a nut welded to the bottom of the mount,  but I have no idea what.  :dunno:  Can any of your enlighten me what the purpose of this mount is and what, if anything, is supposed to be connected to it?  Thanks in advance. P.S. I don't know why two of the pics posted sideways as they're correct in my photo file?

Is the Dana original to the car?  Is there a provision for a pinion snubber?  If it's a truck Dana, they don't have pinion snubbers.  If it's not original to the car, it may have something to do with its original application.

You bolt through the clamp that holds the E-brake cable into it. On a 70 that is, 71 used a different e-brake cable setup.

Thanks Runcharger.  Next time I have it in the air, I'll have to check the routing of my E-brake cable.  Maybe I ended up with a 71 E-brake cable??   :dunno:  Burdar, to answer your questions, yes the dana 60 is original to the car. The pinion snubber is at the front of the Dana housing where the driveshaft attaches.
