Trying to figure out what it goes to . . . I have heard everything from B to C to E-body . . . six cylinder, small block, big block . . . overall length is 15 inches.

With the rubber bushed end, I'd say it was a model that had a revised NVH package, i.e. post 73 B, 76-80 F, or 77-81 M. I doubt it was ever in an A, earlier B, or E body and 3/4 speeds weren't available in the post '80 J  bodies.

I have no clue if it was original or not.    But that is exactly like the one that was on my 71 when I bought it.
