Hi Everyone,

I'm back from Carlisle and the cottage and I'm all in in getting my car back in the road.

So long story short, the engine knocked, found metal in my oil, thought it was main bearings.

Upon tear down, looks like my crank was beating against my Windage tray.

I have three options:

1. Increase the spacing between the windage tray mounting bolts. Currently at 1/4"
2. Trim the metal off the Windage tray where it seems to hit the crank.
3. Remove Windage tray and ignore it.

Ideally I want to go with number one. Anyone with a 408 or large stroker running a stock Windage tray in a stock oil pan have any tips? Or know what the ideal spacing between the Windage tray and block should be. I think I should space the Windage tray maybe 3/8"?

Picture of damage attached. This damage was the same along the Windage tray where the journal for the connecting Rod was.

Someday I will have a J0b.

I had a similar... serious... problem... building it on a stand, I observed the new H-beam rods were hitting the windage tray... spent a few hours pounding and adding clearance as needed for most every rod.   Note:  this was with the  Milodon windage tray w/ studs ... and the Millodon road race oil pan (360) needed clearance added at the rear for the HV oil pump... was a real hassle... many hours spent making it all fit.
