There, I said it. Years ago, I bought a set of Thrush side pipes off ebay. Pretty much brand new.
Aluminum downturns with THRUSH embedded into the cast downturns. Right before the rear tire.

Also, got the chrome side covers, vented and stamped THRUSH on them. They were brand new in the box. Beautiful, they are. Never used.
Mufflers are a no go - just old and rotted out. Maybe only 1 1/2" anyway. Inlet and outlet.

Yes, I am going to use them. Only thing, is the only replacement for the actual muffler would be a "chambered" exhaust, like
the Chevelles used back in the day. No one makes a 5' long muffler to fit? Tube is 4" inside diameter.

The Chambered exhaust is basically a pipe that is crimped every so often to reduce sound. I can have them made in stainless. No rust
But, how loud are they? I want (relatively) quiet.

I know it's heresy. I don't care, lol. please help if you know of QUIET mufflers that would work? THANK YOU.

Yeah, I'm going full retard. I'm ok with it. Nothing screams '70s like side pipes. If I don't like them, I'll rip them off the car.
But, I know that I'm gonna like them. I mocked them up, and they look bada$$, lol. To me. Not everyone's cup of tea.

All I can think of is something like these.... maybe if you use a couple on each side it might be quieter?

Man: I had a set of those on my 75 Road Runner because the exhaust shop said they couldn't run dual exhausts with the big gas tank. They were loud and low. Finally a piece of ice caught them and unhooked the pipe under the drivers door. I did the natural thing and grabbed the pipe with my hand to jam it together and burnt my hand. Straight to the exhaust shop and they pulled them off and did manage to run real duals around the big tank and all.  I think they fit a 70's van though, sort of.
