Too Small, a little bigger would be better (and leave them clickable to enlarge)

Didn't even know they can be enlarged by clicking on them!

Just make them large so I don't have to click them

Seen a couple people mention in posts they can't see the small photos well.  Right now the site is set up to show an image as a 250x250 thumbnail.  If you click on the thumbnail it will enlarge the photo to Actual Size (or a max of 960x960) whatever is smaller.

How is this working for everyone?  Did everyone know the thumbnails are clickable?  Should we make them a little larger so people don't have to click on them to see them, but leave the option there for people who want to see the really large image up close?

I think if they were a little bigger that would be helpful.  One thing that I don't like, and its because I'm on an iMac, is that when I click on the pic link I have to wait for the Image program to open.  However, if it is a good pic that I want to keep I don't mind saving it.  It just would be good if they were bigger so I can see them first.

What do you think if the 900 x 900 thumbnail?   :takepicture:  Test image:

And the clickable size is now up to 1400 x 1400

I think the 900 is too big . . . a better size in my opinion would be 650 or 700 . . . at least on my screen, that would not have scroll bars and would show the whole picture.  Then if interested, could still click to see the actual size.  I do think the current size thumbnail is a little small . . . IMO
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

@4cruzin the current photo thumbnail above is shown at 900 wide x 675 tall.  Do you have to scroll to see it all?

I would like to see it one size smaller, but bigger than 250x250.  Maybe 800x500 ish???

Lets try this.  Here are some different size images.  What image do you think should be the size of our thumbnails?

900

800

700

600

500

Not understanding how it works I ask.... Does a bigger size make the page load slower? If so I would go smallest for down load speed then the biggest possible when you click on it?  I was just on your post Cody about the spring fling and when I would try and scroll down to read the last reply the screen kept moving with each picture that was finishing loading.  That would be a bit of an annoyance with a picture heavy post when your trying to read the latest reply?
Just some food for thought, I don't know whats " possible" as computers are not my strong point?

Cuda Cody

Yes, Brad you are 100% correct.  The larger the Thumbnail size the slower it will load for some people.  That was my thought around having the smaller 250 size.  And let people click to make them larger when they want to see them.  But then it seemed some users didn't know they could click them to make them bigger or just didn't take the time to click them all.  That's what I found myself doing, just looking at the thumbnails and not clicking them to make them larger.  That's when we tried the full screen large thumbs of 900 x 900.  Maybe there is a happy middle that will still load okay and not be so small.

The Spring Fling post was my way of testing a bunch of photos thumbnail sizes in one thread.  That's when I originally landed on the 250 x 250 thumbnail size.  I know think (like others have said) that the 250 is to small.  My computer is kinda old too so pretty much everything is slow for me.  :))

From the sample thumbs above, what size do you like best?  We can go smaller too if the 500 is still to big.

Brads70

I guess you would need to set it then see how fast pictures load? I guess like you said there are a few variables , age on computer, processing speed of computer, and internet speed ? Tough call I guess you need to find a happy medium?  I set my zoom size to 150% so the text is bigger/easier to read. Maybe that factors in too?

It's been updated to 600 max.  Lets try that for a bit and see how it works.   :bigthumb:

@Cuda Cody   I'm trying to create the 392 swap thread and inserting photos in the text.  I uploaded a photo in the gallery but when I insert it into the text it is huge.  Any idea how to resize it to the 600 size or is it supposed to do it for me?

Cuda Cody

It should do it for you.  I'm testing it here...
