Anyone with a connection on HP computer parts?

My newest (2/3 years oldish) laptop's touch screen took the dirt nap. And I never use the touch screen feature! My local guy who's done tons of work for me (shop & home) tells me a new screen is in the $500 arena.  Granted I can connect a monitor to it and it works fine. But that really defeats the purpose of it being a laptop.  This unit was not a cheapie... and was used for video editing and such...
