I had previously moved from Houston to a small town in Iowa.   It was quite a bit different, but my wife and I came to really enjoy the slower pace and the way everyone watched out for each other.   The story I tell a lot is how we decided at 7:15pm to catch a 7:30pm show at the community theater.   We walked downtown (5 minutes), bought our tickets ($8 each), popcorn ($1 for a box), and sat with our neighbors watching people we all knew on stage.   World class acting and stage production?  Hardly.  Did we laugh a bunch and otherwise thoroughly enjoy ourselves?  Absolutely.  Other than being back home in Buffalo where I am now, it was the next best place we've lived.
