I read on another forum that GlenRay radiators might be winding down and retiring around the end of the year.
If true that is a great loss as they are the go-to for restoration radiators.  Is there anyone else out there that does this?
Radiator shops in general are becoming unicorns.  There used to be one or two in every area, there used to be quite a few here around Chicagoland.  Like custom exhaust shops, you took them for granted, but now you find they are few and far between.
Makes me wonder how we will be able to even do restorations in the near future owing to that for certain components there aren't any businesses left that service or refurbish?
Hopefully someone steps forward and takes over the operations if in fact they are ending the business.

I found a local shop that did mine, but it was a sloppy ass job. Big glob of solder covering half my part # and other sloppiness. Hopefully it will at least work, but very disappointed in the job.

I read someone's comment online( for what ever thats worth...?) that he is selling it to someone else when he retires?  :dunno:

I'm not one of the " numbers crowd" and never needed or would spend the money on one of his rads, great looing products though, much needed for someone just not me.

Greeting guys,
While I am going to retire, all orders in now and restorations here WILL get finished. I am in talks with 3 different places about buying out the reproduction radiator business. Along with that, the restoration part. I will train the new ownwer on how to restore one correctly as I see it, so there will be some down time, the buisness will live on. As soon as something is concrete, I will post an update on time table and owners. I have loved doing this for the past 35 years.

Bob, it is a bittersweet for all.  No one can do what you do, unless the new person has the same or greater love for the hobby.  Legends are hard to replace.  You do deserve the break after your long service.  I have had an opportunity to order product from you and your service is #1.  In fact, I was going to contact you to fully refurbish one of your radiators I have had for over 20yrs that has sprung a very tiny leak at a solder joint. Looks like you are going to be toooo busy before the transition.  Do introduce the new entity that will be taking over to all of us.  Take care and Thanks.

No way could anyone do the job he did for me on my 70 440 radiator and heater core. More so than his amazing work is his unspeakable quality as an honest human being.

I tried three different aftermarket heater cores; none of them fit well, all would have required hacking up the housing and the connecting pipes would have come out at an angle.  Poor shoddy construction, even the non-chinese ones sold by known A/C parts brands.

I sent my original in to Glen Ray for rebuild.  It was a bit pricey (about 3x the cost of the crappy new ones) but worth every penny.  It fit perfectly, the tubes will come straight out from the firewall.  Perfect.

I would also have had a radiator rebuilt there or even considered a repro (I don't have the original to rebuild, and the quite decent aftermarket one I have from the 1990s has tank ridges that don't match the shroud).

The radiators matter, but the heater cores... if you have one and can get it rebuilt, do it.  The aftermarket ones _SUCK_.

Radiatorman

Hi all,

I am finally able to post what's going on. We sold the reproduction business to a friend in the radiator industry, Bill Rickerman of Affton Radiator in Fenton MO. I will be delivering the supplies and equipment the first week of December and doing some training. They should be up and running with this very shortly afterwards. Any of you who have reproduction radiators still on order will most likely be receiving them from Bill. He has been a friend for 30 years and knows what he is doing so no worries!

The restoration part is included in the sale but will commence early next year (2026). That will take more training but will no doubt be done with care and attention to detail as I try to have.

Thanks to all past customers and friends!! It has been a great ride but my time has come to hand the torch off. I will still be going to the shows representing Bill so please stop by and say hi!

Thanks,
Bob

Thanks for contributing so much to our hobby! Very high quality and great service are uncommon these days. I have never, ever heard a bad or even mediocore word said about Glenray.

Thanks Bob for your service to the Mopar community! You were a great guy to talk to and am glad I was able to get my radiator done in your last group.

R @Radiatorman  Thanks for the update Bob, I hope y'all get to enjoy retirement! I have one recommendation - on your turn over training, please please please encourage that they video record it all - this will help preserve the techniques and catch the little things that sometimes slip through on documentation, this way they aren't dependent on one person to know it all as well, making future training easier.
