I was very unhappy (being politically correct) when they bailed them out in the first place.  :barf:  :verymad:

If Bush/Obama didn't bail out GM, we'd have probably 3M jobs lost (including suppliers, etc.).

My beef is that we've given them billions in tax cuts with NO INCENTIVES to keep jobs in USA.  Basically free money w/no strings attached.

What really happened here was a political move.  The people that actually had money invested in GM got messed over (being politically correct again). I was smart enough to never invest in any company as sketchy as GM.  But other people lost everything. I heard a rumour that one woman had to go back to work because she lost so much. At least in a bankruptcy court the losses would have been fairly distributed and GM would have been reopened by people who know what they are doing.

I spent most of my life as a special consultant on large contracts with the US federal government. Believe me. You don't want to know how these things really work.  :bye:

Every job lost from the single and poorly managed behemoth would have been replaced with another from a multitude of others after the initial hurt subsided. With the demand still there the employment positions would return. We as a country are now out Billions AND out the jobs. Bailout denied competing (and better managed) companies the ability to grab their deserved share of market that was ripe for taking. Again jobs that would have been made available again.

Nothing was "saved" on our lower end of spectrum.
IMHOP of course.

Guess you think all companies should crash and burn and the workers w/families just stand on off-ramps w/cardboard signs.

I think that all companies and people should be treated equally.  I do not like the idea of the government getting to pick winners and losers.

If they decide to full move to China then basically the gloves come off. No more bailouts and guess what all your cars are now subject to a high import tariff.

Don't mess with the US.

And I'm never buying GM again!  I'm sure that scared them.  :haha:
