Hi everyone,
Have a question for anyone who has set up a six pak before.
I'm having difficulty starting the engine no matter how cold or hot the engine is.. I did a rebuild on all three last spring and had it running all summer pretty good, but noticed that during very hot days leaving the car after running for any period of time was showing signs of vapor lock. By the end of the summer and into the fall, it started becoming more frequent even on starts after running in cool weather. Is this caused by flooding, or starving condition in fuel system.
Thanks all :(

The problem often is that fuel has changed & with added alcohol into the fuel it evaporates quickly on top of a hot engine , I bet this is the issue you are experiencing

That sounds logical, but this was first start up yesterday after injecting high test into the fuel bowls and once started after multiply cranks, ran fine until I shut the engine off with the temperature around 40 degrees. Last year it would start right away even if the temperature was in the 70's and the car was running until hot. Could there be a chance that the plugs have fowled over the coarse of operating since the tune up last Spring?

Sb or BB? Maybe fuel pump pushrod? That seems to be a typical problem?

I apologize for the delay.. so much going on these days. Good point it is a 340.
thnx

Do you have to pump the gas pedal, floor it or just crank to restart? That will give a clue as to if it`s not getting enough fuel or flooded.

Does it run ok when you do get it started? Fuel pump?

BIGSHCLUNK

So not even a tap on the pedal to set the choke?

so it sounds like the carb fuel bowls are empty , Coolcarb makes heat insulators that are only about 3/16 thick but block the heat extremely well that could really help
