So Alan, I have to ask. You did this car several years ago. If someone brought this car to you today in the condition you received it before, and knowing all the problem areas that needed repair,  what would be the cost in US dollars to bring it to this level of restoration? I'd hazard a guess at $105k.
Terry

I don't think you're too far off at $100K...I finished that car March 2010 ...nine years ago and I think it was roughly $30K CDN in metal work back then. Keep in mind there wasn't a lot of AMD sheet metal back then. A lot of that car is OEM metal.

I would think it would be easier today with the aftermarket parts available, but still would be about $30K USD in rust repair and another $60K+ in restoration.

It will be interesting...I'm agreeing with you, but you never know ?

Well the perfect scenario happened and two bidders went head-to-head and this car sold for $275k!  A phone bidder finally got it.   :takemymoney:

That's a lot of $ for a Challenger convertible. I guess the one thing I find interesting is that someone would pay that kind of money for a shaker car that cannot be verified as being original. And the amount of money paid for the 69 Cuda has me shaking my head. What  does this kind of money being spent do to the value of other rare Mopars? I know the owner of the 70 Challenger 440- 6 shaker plum crazy convertible in Montana and he must be doing a rethink of what his car is worth. I'm wondering now if I should raise the insurance coverage of my convertible to more than $60k. The auction prices are hard to get ahead of.

What a bad case of metal termites that car had.. wow... Your work is truly amazing Alan, very few people could have, or even would have considered doing that job.

There's a lot of money out there, hopefully this economy keeps up for a while for those who are looking to turn some of this old iron in to $

I think the new buyer should go after false advertising.... :pullinghair:

How can it be a "nut and bolt rotisserie restoration" when I've never put the car of a rotisserie ?

People are nutz. I know where there is a lot nicer Mod Top than that car. 340, 4 speed, black and a perfect restoration.

:iagree:  Not wanting to go negative on that mod top, but that I hope they didnt buy it thinking it was "restored" as the whole car needs some love.
