Pretty funny that Chrysler's great-grandson, who has absolutely no role in FCA anymore, has tried to block the merger and set new terms including keeping the Dodge Jeep Chrysler name and keeping it in the USA. As nice as it would be, those things kind of defeat the purpose of a merger with a French company...

It is not a merger, it is a buy out. PSA is buying Fiat Chrysler, and as a matter of fact, the boards of directors is majority french from PSA.

First i heard of this.

Oh well... with the exception of RAM and JEEP there isn't much left of Chrysler anyways.   Maybe the Pacifica but the Dodge Charger and Challenger are 15 year old designs and FCA has said that they are simply going to continue to do "special" variations on them for as long as they sell.   FCA is spending the bulk of its attention on the Alpha Romeo lines.

So sad...to me...   My father bought a new Dodge sedan back in 1950 and i grew up in it.  Then in 53 he traded it in on a new Dodge Coronet with the optional Chrysler Red Ram Hemi engine.   I was 6 years old at the time and i remember how excited he was to get it...he had to wait months on it as production was still slow as a result of the Korean war.   He was so excited because it had so much power with that small Hemi compared to the Flame Six in my uncles 53 Chevy Bel Air.

In 1960 he finally traded in that Coronet for a 1960 Dodge Dart Pioneer with the 318 Semi-Hemi that put out 230 HP and the now famous 3sp Torqueflite.   Very unique styling and full size comfort.  Also with several unique advancements, like the Push button transmission, Torsion Bars and a Transistorized Radio !   Back in those days most family men would buy a sedan with the base V8.   Chevy had the 283 with its slush pump 2sp powerglide, and the Fords with their 289's both under 200hp.   Again, a much faster car than the base competition.    I learned to drive in that one.   Then in 68 he traded in the on that one in on a 68 2dr Hardtop Coronet with the optional 383 engine.   Another fast car...

My first brand new car was a 1970 Dodge Challenger with the base 225 slant six and 3sp manual on the floor.   I loved that car and traded it in on a 1972 Dodge Charger SE with the 318LA engine.   Not terribly fast, but, it was gorgeous !!   Loved it also...   Throughout the years Chrysler was always known for their innovative engineering and powerful automobiles.   Long live the Hemi !! Heck todays Hellcats are ridiculously fast !!

Those days are fading fast, so im going to hold to my 74 Challenger that i restored and now has a 408 stroker LA small block, 518 transmission and 3.23 sure grip.   Its a blast to drive !!

Maybe we should play "taps" if this buyout/merger goes thru...

The French bought AMC out, (Renault La-Car)  :barf: And killed them. Then Chrysler bought them out and finished the job. Now the French get to do it all over again.  :headbang:

Yes: It's a shame, the old days of Chrysler are over for good. The Europeans are just going to milk what they can like Dimeler did. Not sure what I'll buy for a new truck next time...
