Lest we never forget.

It is with a bit of irony that the first one was called the Great War because they thought they would never have another. I hope we know better now.

D-day- and what a day it was! I took my family to Omaha beach and we walked down that steep hill to the water and looked up seeing what those many young men saw when they disembarked on that killing ground June 6/44 and the sight made me swallow. On the way back up, my sons, who were a lot younger came to me as I caught my breath and said "gee, Dad, that's a long way up, eh?" and I said "yeah, now just imagine you're soaking wet, shit scared, wearing 50 pounds of gear and the guys up top are doing their best to kill you and you begin to imagine what it was really like for those guys" My boys looked up and I think they really did begin to get the picture. I know I did. God bless those who fought and served and those who perished doing their duty in the name of freedom!  :andyangel:
