I was traveling along I-271 in Ohio Saturday evening. It looked like I was behind a torpedo.

I found the full story on Youtube. It's pretty neat.

the first one was converted to a street car in '78 with Olds Toronado 455 power by Ron Heitman (promoter of Cleveland's Auto-Rama)

Dad's (Addressograph Multigraph) company picnics were at EUCLID BEACH PARK but I wasn't quite 5 when the park closed in '69

probably didn't ride the "ROCKET" but I do remember being scared of "Laughing Sal"  :o

I think you were behind one of the OLDS powered rides, does the plate read "A ROCKET" ?

You are probably correct. The license plate read 1ROCKET in this case.
