It does look like one of the IMSA GT class cars from the 70s. Some of you may recall one of the more popular body styles in this series with the Chevy Monzas and their wide body flares. I always thought a late 80s-early 90s Daytona/Laser would lend itself well to this kind of design. Sadly, the series had changed by the time those bodies came out and when the Archer Bros Daytonas took on the banner for Mopar in the road race world, the series have evolved into purpose built, tube chassis cars with limited OEM panel structure. I think   roof was required to be OEM by then.

Yes, its a bit blocky and, especially the rear, could have been executed more smoothly. But, google "glenn bunch challenger" and look at some of the pictures of the evolution of his car and you can see a direct influence on this car.  However, Glenn did his work as a direct relationship to the GT class he was involved in at the time.  The Cuda here, meh. Whatcha planning on doing with this? Street car, autocross, show pony?

FWIW, it does look like the carbon body pieces could be removed somewhat easily.

You can see these IMSA cars are purpose built and there form follows the function. Generally racecars turn out aesthetically pleasing as they put the wind to good use. That's the problem with this screwed up Cuda, there is no function and the form reflects that.

In light of the GT circuit I would say that it doesn't look that bad.
It's far more appropriate for that scene and I'll say it's pretty cool in that respect.
Street car, well, not so much.

I have occasionally toyed with the idea of buying an oval track chassis that is a few seasons out of its prime and then hanging repop Challenger sheetmetal on it and using it in NASAs Time Trial classes where its all a weight to horsepower calculation. Naturally the thought on this with a Challenger's boxy appearance lends its self to creating something along the lines of Glenn's GT class Challenger comes to  mind and how fun that would be to roll into a paddock full of newer Vettes, Porsches, Miatas, and BMWs.
