Anyone know why Randy (1 Wild R/T) hasn't been here in a while. As of this writing, his last post was almost 2 years ago and his last visit was about a year and a half ago. His contributions were invaluable and his knowledge was second to none. I've PM'd and emailed him but got no response. Hope he's okay. And PLEASE, no guesses, assumptions, opinions or hyperbole, only if you know for sure. If the answer is too sensitive feel free to PM me.

Thanks
John

He posts on for B bodies only often, in fact he just posted there this morning.

I'm going to guess anyway, that there isn't enough traffic here to hold his interest.
I wish activity was higher here.  I am only active on here and for b bodies only now, I still lurk but no longer post on moparts as so many interesting members there have gone inactive, and 75% of those remaining are retirees or disabled with too much time on their hands who post incessantly for the sake of something to do, not that they have anything interesting Mopar wise to contribute.
I'm eager for good Mopar content boards and that has diminished over the years. Maybe most everyone hangs out on Facebook now....

Randy was working on a red b-body...the interest in talking ebodies may have waned a bit?

@JH27N0B I probably spend half and half between here and facebook. The problem with facebook is the sheer numbers of smartass wannabes, tire kicking keyboard cowboys who either can't afford an E body or never have had one. The smartass comments outnumber the ability of the admins to kick them out IMHO. I reached out to Tavis and volunteered to help out and he told me he'd run it past the other admins at one of their zoom meetings. I never heard back. That being said, there is so much more mutual respect and knowledge here that I typically try and check in daily and scroll for anything I can legitimately contribute too. This remains my number one go-to.

Well said and I wish activity was higher here as well. It's a shame what Facebook has done to traditional message boards in the car hobby as well as every other hobby. I too read some of the group pages on Facebook and the amount of nonsense makes my head spin. The other day the topic of whether padding was used under a Challenger SE vinyl top came up in one of the groups and someone was wondering what to use around the plug of the SE back window to make it flush with the rest of the roof. And I'm pretty sure it was 1WildR/T who suggested a while back on moparts to use 1/8" Landau top sculpting foam - which I've just recently used under my own vinyl top with good results, and so I passed along the tip. Then of course the peanut gallery chimed in about how there was never any padding under these roofs even though I posted pictures of like 3 unrestored cars with evidence of the padding around the plug. I finally dug out and posted the original engineering drawing that shows the padding to put an end to the BS.

And then just today I found my ad for a part for sale that was listed here and FEBO & moparts was copied by a scammer and posted as his own on a page on Facebook. I had to report it and get it removed. So I guess the next step is to put watermarks on anything listed for sale to fight the scammers. Sad...

Ya, there are lots of people that are relatively new to the hobby that figure they know all the details. I've been messing around with my Challenger since '85. I know a fair amount about them. But those guys that were driving these cars around in the 70's have a very unique perspective and I really liked reading their posts. Guys like @RUNCHARGER , @Strawdawg , @1 Wild R/T , and others.

These types of forums are sooooo much better than the Facebook.  Way more courteous and the helpful nature of people that post.  Too many idiots on the Facebook.  I don't get why people think they have to post an answer to a question when there are already 100 comments!  I will post if I know the answer only if there are a few comments and I read the comments first.  There was a B-body post yesterday where a guy bought a '66 Charger with no VIN tag.  A few people answered correctly that there are no VIN numbers stamped anywhere on a '66, yet there were maybe 50 experts who chimed in to check the block, radiator support and trunk lip!  Idiots!

No Facebook for or any social media for me when it comes to my private life. Never have. So far no regrets.
I do use Linkedin for the professional side of life.

I too have seen the decline in forum usage in both of my main hobbies (Mopars and replica TV/Movie props).
Been on foums since the bulletin board days of the 90s.

To keep forums going you need to respond, recruit and retain users.
Two of the other forums I'm on send bi-weekly automated emails to users about "what they missed in the last two weeks" highlighting the top 2 or 3 threads with activity.

Hmmm, 3 posts somewhat related to the original subject line.  :bigthumb:

Randy is one of the good ones for sure, he's on B-bodies quite regular. Hopefully I'll go down to Spring Fling one of these years and meet up with him. This is a great forum and I think it's a really good reference tool. Maybe not much day to day traffic but if you want to do a search you can generally find good information here. You won't get that with Twofacebook. More info, less drama.

@Jay Bee I communicated with him many months ago.
He had offered knowledge help with my Falcon project.
No family or personal talk. Cars and work was keeping him busy.
Does not partake in social media.
Yes, working on his B body.
