He probably has it insured for more than it's worth in hope of someone buying the extra insurance and doing just that and cashing in without the hassle of selling it....

Sounds like a hillbilly that doesn't have the first clue about the type of insurance you would need to rent out cars....OR....he makes you sign your life away because the engine has a knock and he's looking for someone else to foot the bill
