303 Mopar

My son and I were able to snag this '74 Dart /6 auto for his first car. The body is good with a some bubbling and the clear is coming off but the drivetrain is solid. It's not fast, which is good for a 16 year old, and it stops and handles really good. All gauges, lights and even the front and rear heater work great. It even came with the original window sticker and owners manual.

I really struggled with getting a "practical" car vs a classic. He has expressed an interest in my old cars, and I feel strongly that it is important to keep his generation interested and knowledgeable about our cars. So we'll throw some studded snow tires on and couple sandbags in the trunk and hopefully I can pass on some knowledge about these cars.

That's a really good looking car!  Congrats!   He'll love it!

Just make sure those sand bags don't rot that trunk.

A-bodies have been reliable transportation since 1961. Tons of them have been first cars. Easy car to learn basic mechanics on as well.

Great looking car!!

Man, the legendary "Slant 6"!  I had several mopars with that...great engine.

I remember my Grandpa's mid-70's Plymouth Volare that had that engine, and it ran like a top.

Nice! Probably the 1970's Cragar's also.
Friend had one back in high school in mid 70's , always liked the car.

Very cool.  My first car was a '74 Gold Duster with a /6.

If it doen't have the 2 bbl you can start searching the wreckers for a super 6 intake , alum 2bbl & a 2 bbl Holley carb 2300 series bith help a lot with tuning & driveability , you could also grab a spare mech cam head , port it & mill it .100 & the power goes way up
