First day of the year and I'm already looking forward to the biggest and best musclecar show in the world!
November 17 and 18 at the Donald E Stephans convention center in Rosemont IL
What they put together is impressive. One of the best shows in the world if you like muscle cars. :1place:
There might be a show or two before then to keep your interest up? Lol
I'll have to look into it. Illinois is only a long days drive away. :burnout:
Interestingly enough, it seems like a large percentage of the prime Mopars that are on display at MCACN every year come down from the Great White North! :canada:
I went to the MCACN employee meeting over the weekend and Bob Ashton was pretty excited previewing what he's lined up for the show next month!
The show cycles through the big 3 for what will be the main attraction when spectators first enter the hall each year. For example, 2015 was the hemi E body convertible display, 2016 was a Shelby display, and last year was the 50th anniversary of the F body Camaro and Firebird display. So this year is Mopar and as most people probably already know, the main feature will be Steve Juliano's RTS cars and dealer sales and promotional material, a display of material and drawings from a designer of the Scat Pack materials in the 60s, along with an RTS and Scat Pak cars display.
The 68 Hurst hemi Dart and Barracuda invitational will be another Mopar highlight this year.
There will be close to three dozen original and long term owner cars displayed in one room in the hall. Besides my T/A, there will be at least one other T/A there, and at least one AAR. The unrestored black gator grain hemi Challenger that was a big hit when it was shown last year will return and be in the long term and original owner display (the original owner has passed away and the family owns the car, so in this case, original family not owner!).
An exciting highlight of Ryans Barn find display this year will be a hemi GTX convertible.
I'm looking forward to seeing a Mopar unicorn to me, one of the few 71 and 72 Swinger 340s built for a couple of Canadian dealers only.
And although they are Fords, I was excited to hear that Craig Jackson is unveiling his restored "Green Hornet" and as recently found "Little Red" Prototype Shelbies there too!
The 10th anniversary MCACN will be fantastic!
I am counting the days before the show once again, my 5th time!
Nice that Craig Jackson is bringing his cars to a show sponsored by Mecum, wish he'd brought his Hemi convertible at the 2015 reunion...

I'm a local boy, so anything anyone needs to know about the area, I can probably answer. Stay out of Chicago and you most likely won't be shot or carjacked! :))
The area the Rosemont convention center is in, is an entertainment district with all kinds of hotels, restaurants, clubs, bars, movie theater, an outlet mall, and I think there is even one of those indoor parachute places there. O Hare airport is just west of there, so those flying in for the show can just catch a shuttle or even the El train over, and never need to rent a car or even take a cab or Uber to go anywhere if they so desire, as everything you need is within walking distance. There's a casino a mile or two north, so you would need to catch a ride there unless you like walking!
Bob said the Craig Jackson bringing cars issue was interesting, with Mecum being the title sponsor. It was made clear to him that he is bringing his cars personally, not to promote his auction, and he didn't have a problem with that, he just wishes to display his cars at this event.
Reggie Jackson is another celebrity who is displaying a car or two.

Awesome! Thanks
If you need any information on move in, and move out Sunday evening, I can give you a lot of information about that too.
After having my '71 in the show in 2010 and 2011, I volunteered to work at the show in 2012 and have worked there ever since and I guess you could call me "part of the family" there of our hard working crew that undertakes the huge job of getting ~550 cars and exhibitors into the hall and to their assigned spaces over about a day and a half period Thursday and Friday. This year I have my T/A in the show and will be working 4 approximately 12 hour days, it's going to take some time to recover afterwards! :drunk:
I forgot to mention, but Sunday is going to be military day. Free admission to anyone with a military ID. I don't know the details yet, but I'll add them when I find out.
I went last year and was BLOWN AWAY at the quality and rarity of the cars. I see I am scheduled to be at work that weekend. I will looking to change that to make this show. Especially with all those cool MOPARS expected to be there!!
I take it there's plenty of parking at the convention center. I'll be driving through there early on Saturday, the 17th, on my way to Toledo Ohio from Kennewick Washington. I plan on spending all of Saturday there, and leaving no later than 6pm to head east. It's been many years since I've been in Chicago area near the airport. It looks like it's a straight shot from I-80. Any advice? I see it opens at 9am. First time for me to attend this show.
Terry
From 80 you go 55 northeast to the tri state tollway, 294, north and there's an exit right by the convention center.
There's a big parking garage across the street. If you're cheap, there's an outlet mall right after you get off the tri state heading east. I've heard you can park free at the outlet mall, and it's less than a block walk from there and I've even heard there's a shuttle bus. But you didn't hear that from me!
The garage across the street charges around $17.
For those that don’t know, this show is Nov. 17 & 18th this year . . . I’m gonna try to make it this time!

FYI, the mall doesn't have the shuttle anymore. But the parking is free.
Gonna check flights from Texas tonight, if I go , where is the closest Garrett's popcorn ?
Was flying out of O'Hare to Scotland couple years ago and saw a long line for popcorn and was thinking why ?
Some of our associates in Chicago send us some of the Garrett's cheese popcorn , now I know why they were waiting in line for that popcorn.
Best popcorn ever !!!
Looks like O'Hare is the closest place to the hall, that has Garretts popcorn.
I'd never heard of it, but it sounds great! If someone wants to bring me some while I'm working at the show Saturday or Sunday I'd appreciate it! :drooling:
It's hard to believe the show is next week, my car is in the shop and hopefully will be done by next weekend getting all the stuff screwed up at the last shop fixed, so it will be ready for the show! :fingerscrossed:
Unfortunately looks like I'll be working in Texas....
Busy day! Lots of incredible cars arrived today and more to come tomorrow.
And my car made it safely!
Here's my pictures from today.

I can't wait to see what comes in today!
Several cars I couldn't photograph yesterday as they were covered. 2 of the RTS cars, Jacksons prototype Shelbies, and some "unveiling" cars that will be revealed Saturday. I spotted a Challenger convertible under a cover I'm looking forward to seeing too!

Second day of set up. The sunroof car that Alan restored and Mikes TX9 AAR made it safely, and the FE5 AAR belongs to a member here and looks fantastic!

Awesome pictures! :worship:
It was great meeting you and I'll try to get over today to see you. I loved how your AAR and my T/A were so closely optioned, I wish we could park them together for some pictures!
I'm supposed to be watching the stage area in the back (near Mopar Alley) today, so if anyone is there stop by and say hi, don't be afraid to wake me up! :D. I wear a MCACN hat, have a yellow staff jacket, wear glasses and my name is Brad.
They said they may move me to watch the RTS display but we will see, otherwise I'll be in the stage area this weekend.
I also need to go to my car to get judged at some point, this will be a new experience for me!
Another great day at the show! Here are my pictures-

I saw Aar1064 today and he had me take a picture of his grandson Jayden in front of his AAR. Check out Jayden's shirt, it is all car patches! Starting 'em young.
And it was nice meeting Greg TX9AAR and Mike Hemicuda (though Mike and I have dealt over the phone and online on parts in the past). While talking to Greg I was reminded of back some years ago on cuda-Challenger.com they made up little dash cards with the website name and your name and user name, so others could recognize you at shows when they saw your card. Maybe something to try here?
I just got home, the T/A is back in my garage, and I have an MCACN OEM concours gold trophy to put on my shelf to gather dust! :1place:
Chet's (Aar1064) AAR won gold too! :bradsthumb:

Thanks for putting up those pics for us! :ohyeah:
Might be just me, but I think people should display their car with the hood/trunk closed. A clean engine is nice but not something I care if I see much. But with the hood and trunk closed you can appreciate the lines of the car and really take in the styling.
A lot of nice cars there!
Brad,
I have to say that you and the crew knocked it out of the park. From move in to move out, it was fantastic! I finally got around to seeing your car and it's gorgeous. I know you had issues with the shop but in the end............Wow!
If you're into muscle cars this has to be one of the best shows to see. I'm not sure of the past MCACN shows but there were a lot of super nice Mopars at this show. Actually more than I thought would be there. I'm sure it had something to do with the RTS/Scat Pak display but being my first show, not sure.
I was fortunate enough to score one of the huge display signs they had. Should look great in the AAR den...............
I only lived the experience thanks to Brad's pictures posted here :worship:.
Awesome to see the three RTS cars at the show, it was a lovely tribute to Steven :andyangel: it must have been hard on the family...
I was expecting to see a large amount of the dealership promotion stuff as well displayed with the cars, but I understand how that would be a huge undertaking and a monumental challenge for the family or those involved with moving the cars. Very thankful they brought out what they did, it must have been a very sombre area of the show. :crying: :console: :drinkingbud:

It's funny to hear you say this. Many years back, there was a C-C member who flew over here to attend Carlisle and do other site seeing. I believe his screen name was babyelephant, and he was from Denmark, but I'm probably wrong on both accounts. :-[
...Anyway, he said across the pond, nobody opens the hoods at a car show for the same reason you stated. It ruins the body lines.
Actually MEK . . You are exactly right! It was babyelephant and he was from Denmark. I was present when he made that statement . .
MCACN was a great show! Glad I got to experience it this year . . Wish I would of saw the display at the 2015 show . . All the cuda converts . . Wow.
