Title: Questions regarding reproduction sport mirrors
Post by: Rutro on December 02, 2018, 06:09:52 AM
I'm looking for a drivers side chrome remote sport mirror.
I've been looking at the reproduction ones and OEM.
Are the repro's coming from one source? Is there one better than others?
If there is thread on this already please re-direct me.
Thanks, Mark

@MoparDave (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/mopardave_10)  might know.  He sells a lot of them and might know if there are more than 1 place making them.

PG classics has some good stuff but they're shipping from Canada.

S & H to Texas could be quite a bit.

I only go thru them as a last resort.   :alan2cents:

Classic Industries has them. Sale ends tonight though. CI shipping cost is crazy high and I am in the same State.

ALL mirrors are made off shore. pic your source to buy one from. We sell/stock all the common parts one may need.

Thanks to each and every one of guys! That is the information I was needing.

When I read comments about the new mirrors, I've read issues with mirror movement on some.
Some of the sellers say they own their own tooling.
I'm guessing all the repo mirrors are trivalent chrome, and guessing the vintage OEM's are hexavalent chrome.
Unfortunately, the chrome appearance is different.
I'm reaching......Does anyone know if any of the mirrors are sourced (or plated) from either US, Malaysia or Taiwan? There might be a few more, but those are the only countries that I know of that still did hexavalent. Taiwan actually phased out last year.

Just wanted to add a quick thought.  There's a lot of places that sell these mirrors and I've done business with almost all of them at some point or another over the last 15 years.  I'll tell you this... When it comes to selling parts, great customer service and some of the best prices anywhere it's going to be very hard to beat @MoparDave (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/mopardave_10)  at Roseville.

@Cuda Cody (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/cuda-cody_1) and @MoparDave (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/mopardave_10), Dave can tell you I've ordered a decent amount from him and have a 4 digit order to place with him this week. I knew he was huge for this community, but not to the magnitude you've just described. Now I'm even more committed. Dave, I'll be reaching out to you this week. 70 Challenger AMD one piece trunk pan, F8 steel core dashpad (non AC, single speaker, expect same returned for core), VIN tag rivets, lower rear vinyl top chrome fastener kit.
