Title: 3 point Seatbelts?
Post by: Valkman on April 26, 2017, 12:43:11 PM
Has anyone used these?

If so how comfortable are they?

Those look just like the XV Racing ones that I have (also matching rear 2 point belts) and that a whole slew of other vendors carry. I could be incorrect but I thought I remember them being form a GM van or something?

I like them. They work well. Easy to install (once I found the nut behind the headliner).

I bought the Classic Industries ones but for the money the Seatbeltsplus  are cheaper and look just as good.
I did however, buy the rear seat belts from Seatbeltsplus and found them to be great in quality and price.

I went with these in mine. Pretty close to the one in the first post. I'm happy with them! My car is so far from original/stock it didn't matter to me that they are not like stock.

After researching 3-point seat belts for my 70 Challenger /6, daily driver. I wanted quality and affordability and easy installation so CudaMoparRay's suggestion of the one's at Seatbeltsplus.com would deffinatley get my vote. However, I will not be using them, so I'll leave that up to you. I was able to score on a set of black, deluxe 3-point, integrated front belts and deluxe 2-point for the back from a 74 Challenger. Very reasonably priced. Excellent condition.          Thanks,  Al

I have the ones I removed I'd sell cheap if someone was on a budget needed them? They were from a 74 shoulder belt style.

do you have any pics with them installed? they seem to have a better color selection than the seatbeltsplus ones and with a B5 interior I see a couple colors they have that might work

Cole, I see by the direction you going in,color wise, that Seatbeltsplus really didn't have anything that suited your B5 interior, maybe something that will work.My early built LA 70 Challenger from the factory came with not only black seat belts but a black steering column also. Iv'e noticed those 74 belts that Brad has are becoming a little hard to find. You might look into it, mine have functioned very well for years now even with a daily driver.               Thanks,   AL

How do they  mount on bottom?  It looks like you have them mounted behind the carpet?

I added an anchor point in that location. 3/16 thick by 1" x 4"? (approx)or so with a 1/2" fine nut welded to it, then plug welded it to the floor. The originals I had ( 1974 belts when I bought my car) were bolted in under the rear panels. I bought all new panels and didn't want to cut into the new panels. Looked cleaner to me this way. The belts also came with new hardware, I think that was an additional cost  not expensive. They could supply the anchor plate if I wanted but I just made my own.

Thanks all, I went ahead and ordered a set. They say it's a bolt in, but it looks like there may be some modifications needed. There was a 2 week lead time so we'll see when it gets here how easy it will be to install.

Rather than start a new topic I'll pile on to this one.  I'm going to order the three point belts from Wesco.  Seem to get good reviews.  Question is do I get the 8" or 11" Bucket Seat End?
https://www.wescoperformance.com/long-sash-seat-belt-starburst.html
I took a measurement and seems the 8" would be too short, just barely making the stock seat pivot area with it moved all the way back.

@Brads70 (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/brads70_12) do you remember what you ordered?  Anyone else?

I'm installing my Wesco shoulder belts and hit a bit of a snag with the 11" release part.  If I bolt it directly to the hole in the trans tunnel, the release button ends up upside down, against your body.  @Brads70 (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/brads70_12) did you make a bracket to flip the release around?  From your pics, your release appears to be mounted correctly. For it to lay right it would need a Z-shaped bracket.  It will work as is but I'd like to have the button on the top side away from my body.  If I flip the belt around in the plastic body, the chamfer at the release end is funky and intrudes on the button.

I have the Wesco 11" ends and long sash.... the release and housing on my belts mount 180 to the way yours is now, but I do not have a console. The release and plastic shroud curve towards tunnel (around seat and hips)... the console is going to be an issue in that respect, though!

If I understand correctly, you have the same part as me with the same shape for the plastic and buckle orientation, but you can flip it around 180 from what I show in the pic because your non-existent console isn't in the way?  Just want to make sure I didn't get the wrong part.  You're right, with the console there, I don't see how it can mount to the trans tunnel in the original spot.

That is correct... here's photos of interior I just took (seats out to put A/C and insulation mat under new carpet coming next week)...

Thanks.  I don't think they considered a console with their design.  I got an email asking for feedback from them so I'll contact them and  see if they have a solution.  At least I have belts now.  Just got it running and it just felt weird doing 25 mph in the neighborhood without belts (or headlights, or turn signals, or a hood   :o)  The neighbors are loving the headers into Cherry Bombs with no pipes.....

Sorry for the late answer I just got in from camping... looks like you maybe need to remove the belt from the plastic and turn it around then reinstall it?  Or a heat gun to reform the plastic? I didn't make a bracket.

Thanks Brad. That tells me it should work with the console. I'll take another look when I get home from vacation
