I bought my Barracuda 70 18 years ago.
My first project was a fast restoration with just a small camshaft, 600 cfm, headers ....
The former owner had started a restoration and wanted to paint the car in "pink panther" here is the result
My first job was to completely strip the car.
What color are you going with?
Once stripped with brushes I treated with a phosphate primer and prime.
My chance, the car which had been stored dry for 10 years, showed little corrosion.
But those are the basics for anyone who restores a 50 year old car.
And first try of orange paint in the engine compartment. (Audi LY2D)
 :lookatthat: :bigthumb:
Then engine stripping.
Small block 340
My regular trips to the Dragstrip in Santa Pod (UK) with friends lead a first slip in my project and a small restoration.
340 becomes 410ci :D
- Crankshaft forged Eagles 4.00
- Icon forged Pistons 4.04
- Connecting rods H Eagle
- Main Stud Girdle Kit

X heads I see
Yes X heads, but in my second project these are new prepared cast iron cylinder heads with valve intake 2.05 / Exhaust 1.60
  :stayinlane:
Engine finished:
- Single plane Intake Holley dominator (Same M1 Mopar Performance)
- Roller rocker Arms 1.6
- Camshaft Compcams Flat Tappet TL300S
- 850 Cfm
- Big water pump PRW
- Fluid Damper
- Valve cover Mopar Performance

Small preparation for the 727.

- Oil pump teflon
- Stage 2 transgo
- Sprag

No engine start and I change my cylinder heads for a Full CNC aluminum cylinder head set. Valves intake 2.08/ Exhaust 1.60
The race for performance begins
Reading Mopar Muscle Magazine gives me a revelation and a new orientation to my project. I want to do a Pro touring with my Barracuda.
Restoration of my car almost finished I decide to strip the chassis for the installation of a stage 2 chassis stiffening kit 70-74 E-BODY Us Car Tool.
Chassis painted after re-stripping the engine compartment
The trunk bottom is corroded. I modify for the installation of a 20 gallons RCI fuel cell.
:lookatthat: :bravo:
Bienvenue de l'ontario :canada: ! Mon dieu that's a lot of travail, mon ami! It looks good so far, so keep on it and you'll be driving it again soon.
All self-respecting Pro touring has new suspension

With a small detail.
Awesome work and project!!!!!
:iagree: Very very cool project. I would love to go for a ride. It should be quick and lots of fun.
February 2013, manufacture of an engine stand for running in the camshaft. Finally hear this engine running
Engine on stand and new change of cylinder heads still no start. The maximum for a small block. Indy Heads Full CNC
And new oil pan Milodon Road race, the Kevko oil pan doesn't work with K-member.
It is a future Protouring then use of new technology with a FAST XFI 2.0 kit.
Imminent start ... Just two or three wires to connect and programming to calibrate.
Ready to start!
Camshaft running in, evolution of the 727 with a Gearvendors.
Are we going to get to hear it run?
Looks awesome!!!!

Sorry cuda hunter, I didn't make a video at the time. :dunno:
15 years after its removal the engine finally finds its location. :worship:
Front axle assembly and finally rests my Barracuda on these wheels.
Installation of the hydroboost and the Pype's performance exhaust with modification for the TTI headers.
Installation of insulation and repair of the heating box..
Replacement of the dash rallye with a carbon copy and Autometer gauges Phantom.
But I made a modification because the panel does not have a heating and ventilation control. Winters are cold in the North of France.
Problem with the air filter drop base and my FAST Throttle Bodies.
Additional pressure gauges installation.
Aluminum drive shaft
And first very big problem... :verymad:
An inatention error and the air filter washer falls into the Throttle Bodies. The washer blocked the engine at idle. Result cylinder 7 is cracked.
A view of the spark plug after disassembly. :-[
:o OH MAN that SUCKS !!! :crying: :console:
Result, dismantling the engine on Christmas Day with my wife, for a new evolution.
Merry Christmas!! :(

:verymad:
C'est Peter qui est à l'origine de ton 392?
New evolution for my small engine
- New cylinder sleeve in 7
- zero Deck
- New Crankshaft balancing
- New Icon forged piston 4.08

Here's my 416ci
And new camshaft running-in with a small 350 cfm

- Radiator grill
- AAR Hood
- Front lower valance
- Spoiler Trans am (Number 21, big thanks to Ariel!)
On holidays this week, I'm doing a seat test and steering wheel.
If the seats are very comfortable, the steering wheel (13.7 inch) is too small and hides the top of the tachometer. :crying:
I will have to choose a steering wheel in 15.
And long work of adjusting the driver's door with the front and rear fenders.
NorthCuda -- Nice work you're doing! Regarding the small diameter steering wheel, I have one on my car that is 11.5" diameter, about 5" deep dish... and I love it as it helps quicken the steering response ... especially when manuvering through pylon slalom cones. My steering wheel also covers up some of the dash (tachometer about 50%), but you can get used to it and make the sound of the rpms 2nd nature to you. I wouldn't go any smaller in diameter than 14". Another option you eventually do is to get a tilt column.
Thank you MOPAR MITCH for your wise advice. :bigthumb:
splendide !! :france: :france:
SO those must be old pictures taking the engine apart at Christmas !
Tell me you are not using cooper for the brake lines , sure looks like copper :Thud:

My brake line are in cooper nickel, Chryco Psycho. You think I made the wrong choice?
Yes the photos of the engine dismantling are from Christmas 2017. The new 416 has been in the car since 2018/12.
After 3 years, my car finally took on some color this summer. 8)
